Back around 2017, we were helping a handful of medical clinics with their general IT. One of them told us how much they disliked handing patients USB sticks and CD-ROMs, both for the time it took and for the plastic waste it created. So we made a small piece of software to solve it. It was never meant to be a big PACS, and it wasn't trying to integrate into a clinic's RIS or patient-management system. It took the obstetric image-sharing problem and fixed it in a simple, beautiful way: the sonographer chooses the images, they're de-identified and clinic-branded, and they land on the parent's phone.
We've come a long way since then.
